ABSTRACT:
This study investigates the nature, scope, effectiveness, and strategic alignment of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives implemented by cement companies in Balodabazar, Chhattisgarh. The analysis is based on data collected from 120 rural beneficiaries, 15 CSR managers, and 15 key stakeholders, including representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and local NGOs. The findings reveal that CSR interventions are largely concentrated in education, healthcare, skill development, and rural infrastructure, contributing to improved service access, enhanced capabilities, and livelihood support. Nevertheless, persistent challenges include limited community participation in project planning, insufficient mechanisms for long-term sustainability, and weak convergence with government development programmes and the Sustainable Development Goals. The study emphasizes the need for participatory planning, stakeholder collaboration, regular monitoring, and social audits to enhance the inclusive and sustainable developmental impact of CSR initiatives
