ABSTRACT:
The socioeconomic circumstances, employment satisfaction, and working environment of craftsmen engaged in traditional Hastshilp in the Chhattisgarh are examined in this research, with an emphasis on the districts of Bastar, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Gariaband, and Raigarh, Jashpur. The study examines important variables including pay, training, and working conditions and their effects on craftsmen's overall happiness, based on primary data gathered from 60 artisans. The research examines the difficulties encountered by artists, such as low income, a lack of year-round work, and restricted access to contemporary infrastructure, while highlighting the continuing heritage of crafts including Dhokra art, Ghadwa art, and iron and bamboo crafts. The results of the Chi-square analysis show that the income level has a significant impact on the satisfaction of craftsmen, and training has no significant effect on craftsmen's satisfaction. Research reveals that even while a large number of craftsmen work for themselves, they frequently face poor pay and little options for savings. In order to ameliorate the socioeconomic circumstances of these craftsmen, expand their access to resources, and boost training possibilities, the report recommends specific governmental initiatives. These actions will eventually help to preserve and promote Chhattisgarh's rich cultural legacy.
