Abstract: The present paper is an attempt to study
the trend of women participation in various economic activities, taking the
1971- 1981 decade as the focal period. Women participation is analysed in terms
of the rural/urban workfforce ; primary/secondary/ tertiary works ; and agricultural/industrial works. There are
44.973 million total
women workers in India (1981). It
constitutes 19.76 percent of the total female population ot India. In 1971, the total women workers consisted of
14,15 percent of the total women
population. It means there is an Upward
trend in total women workers.
